Light Readings

Light Readings is an interview series focused primarily on writers based in Western Canada. This series features authors that delve into spiritual topics, including writing, meditation, personal revelations, paranormal encounters, and more. Interviews will be posted in recorded format, as well as written transcripts, and uploaded every few weeks.

This idea came to me when I moved out to the mountains. While exploring, I kept amassing books by spiritual writers, completely by chance. At the time I was volunteering with student radio and interviewing authors on the regular, but I wanted to diverge from traditional media. Something was pulling me to pursue this project, so I followed whatever that ‘something’ was.

Light Readings is an interview series based out of the Rocky Mountains which features interviews with spiritual writers.

I have always appreciated the art of writing, and I understand the work and energy put into books. For this reason, I would like to feature spiritual writers, particularly those who have been self-published, as many of these writers are not partnered with a large publishing conglomerate to assist them in marketing. Many of the authors I have been interested in have a personal business as well, and I like to support local businesses.

The publishing market is shifting because of the impacts of globalization, artificial intelligence, and self-publishing. This has had a huge impact on artists and writers. By featuring local writers, this series fosters community, rather than competition.
